Bombay Meal was launched keeping the lifestyle diseases that most urban professionals deal with, in mind. Sane Care, an Ayurvedic healthcare centre that has been involved in curative treatment for cardiac patients for more than a decade, is behind the catering service.

Bombay Meal offers high fibre, low-calorie vegetarian dabbas that will be delivered to your office at no extra cost. "As of now, we serve diet lunches, but within a couple of weeks we are set to launch special meals for diabetics, cardiac patients, those suffering from obesity and blood pressure as well as specific meals for women and students," says Dr Rohit Sane, MD-Alternative Medicine and Director, Vaidya Sane Laboratories. The fact that taste and freshness aren't compromised on, is their USP, he claims.

What's available: You can opt for the Executive Diet Lunch (Rs 60) or the Royal Diet Lunch (Rs 100). The ingredients, Dr Sane says, are organic and free from preservatives. The Diet Dabba has 700 calories and includes a balanced mix of carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins.

How it works: Once a customer contacts Bombay Meal, they fix up an appointment with an in-house dietician to chalk out a custom-made meal plan. "Ayurvedic extracts are added to every meal depending on the ailment," says Dr Sane. They monitor your progress through feedback forms.

We tried: The Executive Diet Lunch (Rs 60) included 2 chapatis, 1 bowl of dal, 1 bowl of vegetable, 1 sweet dish (kheer), 1 bowl of rice and a salad. The chapatis were a bit dry, and they could get rid of the extra oil from the veggie dish. The kheer was delicious.

What's in the tiffin?
>> They have a Ladies Special Meal that claims to help women cope with hormonal changes. It includes vegetables like Dudhi (good for the uterus) and spices like jeera (aids ovulation and strengthens the uterus), along with Ayurvedic extracts.
>> Lunches for cardiac patients include fruits like pomegranates, vegetables like bitter gourd (Karela) and spices like Dal Chini, all of which are said to be good for your heart.

Call: 25380440 / 67715400. You can opt for a 10-day trial package to start with. Free delivery everywhere in Mumbai. Rs 1,800 a month for the Executive Diet Lunch.
