Pimpri police had arrested Khan on Monday for sedating people with sugar cane juice and then fleeing with their valuables. "There are five cases registered against him at Pimpri police station, and on Monday we arrested him from Pimpri for sedating people with sugar cane juice and robbing them thereafter," said Mohan Vidhate, police inspector at Pimpri police station.u00a0
He said that when Khan was brought to the police station, during interrogations in the lock up, he demanded a cup of tea from police staff. His request, however, was not met. "Furious over the denial, he hit his head on the iron grill of the lock-up and started abusing the staff and also told us that he would tell the court that he was tortured by the police during the interrogation," said Vidhate.
"We have booked him under section 309 (attempt to suicide) and he will be produced before the court tomorrow."u00a0
