The Delhi excise department suspended the license of a night club in the South Extension area on Thursday after it found that non-duty-paid foreign liquor of premium brands was being served to customers.
According to a government official, the raid was conducted in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday by the department's sleuths, who seized 52 bottles of foreign liquor from the night club.
"Following a tip-off, an excise department team reached the club at 1.30 am. Sensing the raid, the staff of the club tried to obstruct the way of the officials, due to which they were stuck in the lift for 30 minutes," he said.
The club also switched off the lights on its premises for a couple of hours, the official added. "We have suspended the licence of the club and sealed its premises after we found that non-duty-paid foreign liquor of premium brands was being served to customers," he said.
