In a shocking case of cold-hearted murder, a 32 year old man is alleged to have killed his wife and 18-month old son in their sleep on suspicion that his wife was having an extra-marital affair. The accused even slept with his victims bodies before fleeing in the morning.
The accused, identified as Om Prakash, was tracked down by eight separate police teams . A report in the Times of India quotes Aslam Khan, DCP (northwest) as having stated that Prakash's mobile phone and CCTV footage of the areas he frequented were kept on constant surveillance. It was based on a tip-off that police officers traced Prakash at the Khera Kalan railway station.
Family members and friends of the accused were also questioned be the police. The couple had gotten married in 2005, however Prakash's wife Shobha filed a dowry harassment case. While she withdrew it later, the couple started living apart.

It is believed that Om Prakash committed the murders on the belief that his wife was having an extra marrital affair and that his son Karan was born out of that affair. In a bid to avenge the possibility, the accused plotted the murders by watching crime shows, several months in advance. Further investigations in the case remain ongoing.
