Anuradha Sahastrbuddhe of Child Line said that the girl approached them on Saturday, alleging that two police constables, including a woman, beat her up and later forced to sign a statement confessing that she had stolen the ornaments.
"We then approached DCP Makarand Ranade and requested him to initiate action against the constables who had done this act, "said Sahastrbuddhe.
She said that the Child Line has also demanded that a case should be registered against the lawyer, who had kept the girl for work despite knowing that she was a minor.
When contacted, Ranade said, "We have initiated an inquiry into the case and Police Inspector S B Navale of the Kothrud police station will investigate the case and send the report to me." u00a0u00a0
