City court seeks clarification on Abdul Telgi case

The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Bangalore city has written back to the Pune court seeking clarification regarding the confessional statement of Abdul Karim Telgi, the prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket.

The Pune Court needed the confessional statement of Telgi under Section 164 of Criminal procedure, regarding one of his fake stamp paper cases for the purpose of conducting trail, has asked the CJM to conduct the same and report to the Pune court.

However, Shankrappa, the counsel for Telgi, has argued that the CJM could not conduct the confession procedure since the court has no jurisdiction.


According to him, Telgi is presently housed in Central Prison, which comes under the jurisdiction of Bangalore rural court.

Convinced with the argument, the CJM asked the Pune Court to make necessary corrections in this regard.
