CBI on Thursday arrested three more persons, including a battalion commandant, for alleged corruption and bungling in the recruitment of the ranks in anti-Naxal force COBRA.


CBI on Thursday arrested three more persons, including a battalion commandant, for alleged corruption and bungling in the recruitment of the ranks in anti-Naxal force COBRA.

BS Sidhu, commandant of CRPF's 134 battalion, Pankaj Chaurasia, a tout, and another person - TM Basla - were arrested by the agency from different places in Bihar, CBI sources said.

Ten live cartridges were also recovered from his residence in Chandigarh during a search. The agency had yesterday arrested eight people, including a CRPF Inspector General and a commandant of the force.

The agency recovered nearly Rs 1.15 crore cash and fixed deposits yesterday during the first series of arrests. With today's arrest, CBI has so far nabbed 11 persons for their alleged involvement in the recruitment scam.
