Senior leader Jaswant Singh has been expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for his book praising Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, but this is not the first time his writings have touched off controversy.
In his previous book titled "A Call to Honour: In Service of Emergent India in 2006", he alleged that there was a mole in the Prime Minister's Office in the nineties during the tenure of P.V. Narasimha Rao of the Congress who leaked information to American sources.
Soon after the release of the book, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh disputed this and asked him to name the mole.
Jaswant Singh then said he had sent him a letter, but Manmohan Singh said the letter neither had any signature nor the name of the mole. The former external affairs minister defended himself saying he had a "strong hunch" that information was being leaked from the PMO.

His latest book, 'Jinnah -- India, Independence, Partition', released Monday lauds the founder of Pakistan and holds India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and its first home ministere Vallabhbhai Patel responsible for the country's partition in 1947.
According to his profile posted on parliament website, this is the 71-year-old leader's tenth book.
