A 24-Year-old medical officer working in a reputable institution was molested on Wednesday afternoon at Sahakarnagar by an unknown suspect, who came riding on a motorcycle and approached the victim on the pretext of asking directions.
The incident took place in front of the residence of a local corporator Sunil Bibwe at Sant Eknath Nagar. The victim lodged a complaint at the Sahakarnagar police station. The unknown suspect was charged under Sections 509 and 354 of the Indian Penal Code.
"The complainant was walking towards a mobile repair shop and there was nobody on the road. An unknown man wearing black trousers and shirt, with a shabnam bag hanging around his neck, came riding on a black Pulsar motorcycle and approached the victim on the pretext of asking an address," said Police Sub-Inspector Rajan Jagdale.
"When the lady stopped, the suspect touched her inappropriately and moved on. He turned back and sniggered at her and then fled from the spot. The complainant had noted the number of the bike, which turned out to be a fake one." Jagdale said the offender was not known to the victim. "There was no past history of stalking and any such angle has been ruled out," Jagdale said.
