You may think that they have the coolest job, playing for others, and making big bucks. But the situation seems to be contrary.

While the government is divided over increasing the deadline for pubs, DJ's from the city have come together to form a support group to address their grievances.

Bangalore United DJs (BUD) unofficial head, DJ Jassmeet told MiD DAY, "I've been a DJ for about 12 years now and I've seen talented folk who haven't made it. With BUD, we can help showcase new talent."

The group feels that with BUD, they'll be able to showcase new talent.They will also provide legal help to members as and when needed.

He added, "We're like a small family. If, god forbid, there was an accident involving one of our own we'll be there to help."

"We even have legal representation, in case one of our members has trouble with a pub owner who might refuse to pay up later. We believe that each gig deserves at least Rs 10,000," said Jassmeet.

Members are expected to cough up Rs 200 at every meeting that goes into the clubs' kitty. DJ Deepak, club treasurer said, "This money will be kept aside for emergencies.

If one of us ever needs this cash, it'll be there."

Anup Absolute!, a DJ with over 12 years of experience said, "Every business has an organising body that ensures rights, and being a DJ you're all on your own and often in trouble."

He added, "However, BUD needs polishing, there are pointers I don't agree with but I've seen the ups and downs in this business. We can now also create a quality check when we see youngsters perform."

BUD's Facebook administrator, DJ Mohasin said, "I am one of four Facebook administrators. All information will be shared; even our finances will be up there for everyone to see."

A newbie, DJ Sam Abraham said, "It's a good opportunity for us beginners to work alongside professionals. The seniors here have been encouraging and the feedback has been good so far."

However, BUD is yet to recruit any female members making it a boy's only club. "Right now there aren't any women, we did invite them but they haven't showed up. Maybe they'll start their own club," said DJ Jasmeet.
