The Pune Crime Branch busted a credit card racket and arrested a cashier working with a popular hotel. Wasim Salim Patel, a resident of Vishrantwadi area, was allegedly duping foreign and Indian clients by stealing the vital data on their credit cards with the help of schemer.
According to the police, "Wasim, while swiping the credit cards of the clients would download all the data on the schemer. Patel's accomplice Aasif Mirza used to provide him new schemers once their capacity was consumed."
Asif would then download the data and transfer it to the blank credit cards. Their other accomplices would use these duplicate credit cards for shopping purpose in various shops in Pune, Mumbai and Surat.
Police have arrested eight persons in this regard and confiscated 16 platinum and gold cards of various international banks and also have confiscated schemers, card reader and writers, computers and other devices used to commit crime. ACP Sangramsingh Nishandar is investigating the case.
