In a major decision, Maharashtra Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday said that the state government has decided to release Rs 61.48 crore towards building landslide retention walls in Mumbai suburban district.
"The disbursal will be as per the high-risk category for landslides studied by GSI and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)," tweeted Aaditya.

"We have also decided to have a climate impact committee at the district level to study other interventions for building climate resilience," he added.
In July this year, around 25 people died in Vikhroli and Chembur areas of Mumbai.
