Water supply to the city was hit due to power failure at Bhandup and Pise Panjrapole treatment plants on Tuesday. The supply from the Bhatsa dam stopped for over six hours and the restoration will take another day, which means citizens will face water shortage on Wednesday, too.
Electricity supply in parts of the MMR was affected on Tuesday morning. Though the connection was restored with a couple of hours, it affected the water supply from Bhatsa dam, which provides 60 per cent of the city's needs.
Chief of the Hydraulic Engineer Departmentsaid the power disruption affected water supply for almost six hours and it will take another 24 hours to fully fix it. The eastern suburbs received 60 per cent of the daily supply while the western suburbs got 75 per cent. The entire city will face water shortage on Wednesday, said the BMC.
