Two brothers, one bedridden and another physically challenged, were rescued after their 20-year-old television exploded in their house, in Vasai West on Sunday morning. The fire brigade, with the help of local people, saved them after a huge fire broke out as a result.
Bharat, 65, and Dhansukh Vyas, 64, are residents of Deewan Bhavan society at Manikpur Parvati Cross, in Vasai West. Bharat has been bedridden for many years and Dhansukh is physically challenged. The brothers had a 60-inch box television that they purchased 20 years ago.
According to the police, around 11.15 am on Sunday, when the brothers were watching television, it exploded and the fire started spreading in the house.

Speaking to mid-day, society secretary Mehul Doshi said, "We heard a loud noise and when we checked, we saw the Vyas's house on fire. The brothers were trapped inside. We informed the fire brigade. The fire spread rapidly due to the furniture in the house." The house was gutted.
The fire brigade rescued the brothers and extinguished the fire. The brothers were given first aid at the local hospital and allowed to leave.
