After taking over the famous Jambori Maidan in Worli for Dahi Handi celebration, the BJP has now announced a massive event in Thane - Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's turf. Party leader Shivaji Patil has announced Rs 51-lakh prizes for all at the event to be held at Hiranandani Meadows. "This is one of the biggest Dahi Handi celebrations not only in Thane but in the state," he said.

We will organise the event under the name Swami Pratisthan," said Patil. "Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Assembly speaker Rahul Narwekar will be present for the event," Patil said.

Mandal secretary Subhash Amberkar said, "The first prize will be Rs 11 lakh for the mandal that will successfully erect a nine-layer human pyramid and break the handi. And another Rs 40 lakh will be given to other participating mandals. Earlier, we used to give Rs 40 lakh as prizes to all." While Thane is the homeground of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, his ally BJP has announced a 100 per cent BJP mission in Thane.
Meanwhile, the Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray will hold a Dahi Handi at Jambli Naka in Thane.
