The electricity shortage being faced by the state utility has decreased a bit as Adani Power's Tiroda thermal plant increased its supply from 1700MW to 2250MW on Friday, and ensured to restore the contractual obligation of 3100MW from the wee hours of Saturday. However, power cuts had to be enforced, not as Thursday, because of the deficit, said the company.
The electricity shortage being faced by the state utility has decreased a bit as Adani Power's Tiroda thermal plant increased its supply from 1700MW to 2250MW on Friday, and ensured to restore the contractual obligation of 3100MW from the wee hours of Saturday. However, power cuts had to be enforced, not as Thursday, because of the deficit, said the company.
In addition, the state generation firm Mahagenco has assured to increase its production to 7500MW from 6800MW in a couple of days. This means a little more relief even as the coal shortage and subsequent short supply situation is not expected to improve any day soon. Electricity distribution company Mahavitaran said in a statement that it will reduce power cuts in phases if the demand decreases.
On Thursday, energy minister Nitin Raut had said that the private companies, including Adani Power, would be served notices for breaching contractual obligation in the time of crisis. The daily demand from Mahavitaran's 2.80 crore consumers has increased to 24,500-25,000MW. The shortage faced is about 2,500MW.
