Amisha Vira (33) will never view a naan the same way. Her favourite dish was ruined forever on Saturday when a vegetarian restaurant near Vile Parle station (east) served her one with a cockroach in it.
The animal rights activist, however, got her own back by getting the management to admit to the mistake on paper and clicking a picture of the roach in the naan.

Vira recalled, "I was about to take a second bite of the naan, when I saw the dead cockroach in it. When I informed the management, they tried to take away the plate and said it happened sometimes."
Things got worse when the restaurant management tried to explain it away.
"They told me they had sprayed pesticide the previous day and that must have killed the cockroach. But that meant there would be pesticide in the food too.

"They then offered to waive the bill to pacify me. But I refused and got them to give in writing that the food had a cockroach."

Vira used the same to lodge a complaint at the Vile Parle police station.

The owner of the restaurant, who also has hotels in Lonavla and Pune, admitted the incident occurred.
He said, "I don't know how the cockroach entered the food. We offered to waive the bill, but Vira would not budge and made an issue out of it."
Falling ill
But Vira has no intention of backing off. Alleging that both she and her friend had puked and undergone medical treatment after eating at the restaurant, Vira now plans to drag them to the consumer forum.
A cop from Vile Parle police station said, "We have registered a non-cognizable complaint and the complainant will be filing a case too."
