...stay away from malls if you have symptoms, says health minister

The State Health Minister Rajendra Shingne has appealed to people to avoid crowded places like cinema halls, shopping complex and malls if they or their family members have H1N1 symptoms like running nose, fever and sore throat.

"They must also wear safety masks," said Shingne, speaking to Sunday MiD DAY from Buldana. The minister added, "The victim (Famida Panwala) was already suffering from hypertension and diabetes, therefore her body resistance power was low, and could not respond to the swine flu treatment, which was known only after her condition deteriorated."

More screening centres

About 500 beds other than Kasturba hospital have been reserved to handle suspected and confirmed cases.

Five new screening centers at BMC-run hospitals like Rajawadi in Ghatkopar, M T Agarwal hospital in Mulund, Bhagwati hospital in Borivili, Baba hospital in Bandra and Siddarth hospital in Goregaon where 100 odd beds will be reserved to handle any situation, said the minister.
