The Corporators in the Standing Committee meeting of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) came down heavily on the consultants who have done shoddy work in civic run schools in the city.
The corporators said they had visited around 36 civic schools and found that eight consultants, who were appointed to carry out the repair work there have done a "shoddy job."
"As per the Court order and the Dhanuba Committee appointed by us, we had suggested that all civic school repairs should be done systematically keeping the quality check in mind," said standing committee chairman, Ravindra Waikar.
Corporators in the civic body asked for transparency in the administration and said they do not want corrupt people. They demanded blacklisting these consultants.

"We just want that work given to them should be done systematically and the defaulters should be penalised properly. We hope the Municipal Commissioner will look into the matter more seriously," Waikar said.
Congress Corporator Sameer Desai pointed out that they have found wall cracks and leakages in most of the schools where paint is also coming off.
"They have also deliberately delayed the repair work because more delays mean more money from our side. Despite providing them with so much money they have done a shoddy job," he said.
The Civic body's vigilance and education department would be visiting more civic schools in the coming weeks to check the progress on repair work done in schools. "We will take a thorough inspection on the work. This time we don't want sub standard work done," said Waikar.
Corportors have asked the civic body to take strict action against faulty consultants.
