A doctor from Virar has been targeted by a woman trying to extort money by blackmailing him with obscene messages and porn videos over WhatsApp. The Virar police filed an FIR against the unknown woman on Friday. Recently the retired principal of a noted art school in south Mumbai was similarly targetted.
The 40-year-old doctor approached the police after she threatened to forward the chats to his wife and friends. According to the police, the doctor runs a hospital in Manvelpada, Virar East, and many people from Virar, Nalasopara, Vasai come there for treatment. He also consults online and prescribes treatment over WhatsApp. In his statement to the police, the doctor stated that he had received a message from a woman a few days ago, but since he had not saved the number, he did not reply.
The woman then sent a message again saying she had liked his photos on Facebook. A couple of days later, the police said the woman sent the doctor a few porn videos. The doctor then blocked her number. But the woman had saved the screen shots wherein his number is seen.
She then started blackmailing him saying she would send the chats to his wife if he did not pay her. He then told his wife what had happened. Fed up of the extortion messages and calls, he and his wife approached the police on Friday and registered a complaint.

"We have registered a complaint under various sections of the IPC against an unidentified woman," said an officer from Virar police station. Recently, the 77-year-old retired principal of a well-known south Mumbai art school became the victim of similar extortion and registered a complaint with the Khar police station. The accused have not been caught in both the cases.
