Sachin Waze at Babulnath with NIA officers on Wednesday evening

Suspended Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze, arrested by the NIA in connection with the Ambani bomb scare case, was taken to different locations by the agency to understand his plans and the routes he took to reach Antilia and return to Thane on February 25.

The agency brought him out of their Peddar Road office around 5.30 pm on Wednesday and took him to Babulnath temple where he was asked to walk for a few metres. He was asked some questions. The agency believes that he changed the number plates of the Scorpio at the place. From Babulnath, he was taken to Mahim creek, where he was again asked questions. It is suspected that he destroyed some evidence at the place.

From Mahim creek, the team went to Waze's residence in Saket Nagar, Thane. It is alleged that Waze parked the Scorpio inside his society and got Mansukh Hiran to register the FIR theft case. Hiran was found dead on March 5. While returning, the team stopped at Mulund toll plaza near a creek, where again Waze was questioned. The officials reached the NIA office with Waze around 9.30 pm. API Riyazuddin Kazi of CIU, who is also under scanner, was questioned by NIA for the fourth time.

Hiran's murder probe
On the other hand, the Maharashtra ATS investigating the murder of Hiran have received a positive diatom report from the Government Medical College. "The diatom test done at GMC is positive. However, we are sending the report to FSL Madhuban, Haryana for confirmation. Meanwhile, we are investigating the case as a murder only," an ATS officer said.

With the diatom test positive, it can be said with certainty that Hiran was alive when he was thrown into the creek in Mumbra on March 4. His body was found near Retibunder in Mumbra. The post-mortem report received earlier also stated that there were ante-mortem injuries on Hiran's body. The agency takes help of diatom tests in certain cases to understand if the person died due to drowning or was thrown into the water after being killed.

Also, senior ATS officers, including DIG Shivdeep Lande and a DCP rank officer, visited the Thane ATS office and discussed the report with the doctors who conducted Hiran's port-mortem.
