Mumbai Crime: Tribal orphan abducted, raped by three men in Bhayander

A 15-year-old tribal orphan from a village in Bhayander was allegedly abducted and raped by three men on Tuesday night. Police officials said the accused, all fishing boat workers, aged 20, 24, and 26, were arrested on Wednesday.

The girl lost her parents a few years back and was under the care of a family from the fishing community, a police officer said. According to a report in the Times of India, on Tuesday, around 11.30 pm, the victim was chatting with three friends, including a girl, when the men passed lewd remarks.

The accused then dragged the girl, while her friends fled. Later, the men took the girl to a remote place and raped her. They then abandoned her and fled from the crime scene. The victim's friends alerted their parents and villagers, who found the girl at an isolated spot.

Later, the girl was admitted to the hospital and a police complaint was registered. Villagers protested and said that labourers were increasingly engaging in eve-teasing and harassment in the vicinity.

The accused, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, were found hiding in a secluded place in a neighbouring village. They have been booked for gangrape and abduction, a police official said.
