A 50-year-old man was arrested by the Mulund Police for allegedly threatening his mother and robbing her of gold ornaments. He then directed her to file a fake police complaint claiming that she was hypnotised and robbed by two strangers when she was out shopping, reports Hindustan Times.
However, the elderly woman could not present the fake complaint coherently during the investigation and had to eventually, reveal the truth. The police then filed a case of robbery against her son.
The accused, Hitendra Rathod, 51, is a resident of Kalyan, while his mother lives in Mulund with his two younger brothers. Rathod would often visit his mother and take money from her.
But his mother refused to give him any money when he visited her last month stating that he has already taken all her savings. He then threatened her and snatched her 25gm gold ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh, said a police officer.
