The husband of a police constable was allegedly found murdered in his rickshaw at Varai within the limits of the Manor police station (Palghar district) early on Thursday.
According to police sources, there was a deep head injury due to which the Manor police have registered a murder case. The deceased has been identified as Pundalik Anant Patil.
According to police sources, Patil's wife is a constable with the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate. Patil was an auto driver and the couple lived in the Vasai police quarters. Around 1.30 am, passers-by saw the overturned auto on the Palghar-Manor road near Varai village and alerted the Manor police.

"As the head injury looks like it was caused by a sharp weapon, we have registered a case under sections of the IPC," said a police officer.
With the help of the auto number and documents recovered from the vehicle, the cops traced Patil's house.
"Several teams have been formed for the investigation," said Palghar police PRO Sachin Nawadkar.
