It is the first part of a series of films that will explore the life and career of 13 Indian artists.
The film will explore the life and career of artist Baiju Parthan
The series was conceptualised by Anupa Mehta and the film is produced and directed by Nrupen Madhvani. Born in Kerala, in 1956, Parthan is one of the early exponents of new media and mediatic realism in the contemporary art scene of India and works with paintings, digital images, installations, as well as backlit displays.
Parthan's art maps cultural and political narratives that shaped post-colonial Indian art since the late 1980s and showcases how information can alter our perception of reality. The screenings, which are being organised by the Mohile Parikh Center, will include refreshments at 6 pm, an introductory session at 6.45 pm, and two screenings of the same film at 7 pm and 7.30 pm. Seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
