If not, then head to Simmons for mattresses that let you sink in or ones that look inviting enough for a bouncy pillow fight. Be ready to pay a mighty price for such pleasures too
The now-defunct mills at Lower Parel have started to acquire a character of their own. Phoenix Mills, of course, is consumerism at its best. Mathuradas Mills brings in a younger vibe, with the best live music venue in the city as well as another haunt for the nocturnal audience opening up today in the form of Zinc, a club-cum-lounge. Raghuvanshi Mills, on the other hand, prefers to liven up your pad with more than half a dozen home d ufffdcor stores packed inside its compound.
Go past Bench Craft Concepts (classy), Paradox Pink (overwhelming), Veaura (blingy), Muslin (only place with discounts right now) -- all pricey home furnishing stores -- and you will spot Simmons right at the end. The store opened doors last Tuesday and looks like a place we would gladly trek to after a leisurely lunch nearby -- they have eight beds in which you can take a power nap under the pretext of trying them out.
The Atlanta-based bedding manufacturer is primarily into mattresses and the ones at the store range from super soft to firm. One is intended towards taking care of your back with a cashmere filling, while another comes stuffed with negative ions that promise to boost metabolism and improve blood circulation, the store attendant told us. However, the mattress that caught our fancy was the one right in the corner -- we sat on it and went bouncy bounce the way you would on the mattress in the room of an uber luxury hotel. Turns out, these guys supply to quite a few five-star hotels around the globe.
The hitch here is that since most of the mattresses have a height of nine to seventeen inches, you will be compelled to buy mattress protectors as well as bedsheets from the store itself. So after spending anything between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 7 lakh on the mattress, you would have to shell out another Rs 10,000 for the mattress protector and a few more pennies for the bedsheets, which will soon be in the store. Ouch!
A couple of armchairs and side tables, and a dozen glass art pieces occupy store space too. The vases and showpieces are bizarre but beautiful -- the only things we thought we could afford taking home and not lose our sleep over.
