Los Angeles: Director Jean Dujardin says that he is proud of winning an Oscar, but he doesn't think it means as much to him because he's French.

The 41-year-old, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in silent film 'The Artist' (2012), said that the Oscar doesn't mean as much to him as he thinks it would to an American actor, reports contactmusic.com.

"There's a big fantasy around the Oscar, but I never bought it. It was a fabulous experience but after all, I'm a French actor, I'm not American and I love performing in my language," said Dujardin.

The director, who also took on roles in Hollywood blockbusters "The Wolf of Wall Street" alongside actor Leonardo DiCaprio and in "The Monuments Men" with actor George Clooney, is now taking more parts in European films.

Dujardin said he would like to appear in arthouse projects such as "The Wonders" and said: "Contemporary Italian cinema is really great and inspiring these days."
