Sonali Bendre is the latest guest on mid-day.com's special series âFlashback with the Stars.' The actress who has been part of several hit movies and songs, opens up about shooting the iconic âHumma Humma' for Mani Ratnam's 1995 film âBombay,' starring Arvind Swami and Manisha Koirala.
Recalling the shoot the actress says, "When I look back at it, I wish I had enjoyed the process a lot more. We shot that song in one take and when you watch it it's all snipped up in the edit. I was like âWhy did we work so hard for it?' I suppose we could do that kind of edit only because we were shooting it in a certain way. All of these songs and moments have been a learning for me."
She adds, "I'm not a trained actor, I've never done theatre and not a dancer. I've learnt on the job, which today I would never get a job. That time they were more lenient and I could get away with it. I don't think I would get away today."
Speaking about starting off as a model before entering movies, the actress says, "When I started modeling, it was the phase where ad films started telling little stories. Before that it was just the look and movement. I was doing a lot of work in advertising because I got acting roles. I was a bit scared to do ramp, I'd heard so much about it and I was intimated by all that goes on live shows."
