Dr. G.V. Hari
In an era of rapid technological change, growing social divides, and shifting values, the question of who will shape our future is more pressing than ever. Today's youth stand at the forefront of this transformation-full of potential but in need of guidance, inspiration, and opportunity. Around the world, nations are recognizing that their greatest resource is not material wealth but the energy, integrity, and innovation of their young people. It is in this urgent moment of transformation that the work of Dr. G.V. Hari proves both timely and transformative. A dynamic educator, changemaker, and children's laureate, Dr. Hari has dedicated his life to nurturing the next generation of Indian leaders. As the National Chairman of Jawahar Bal Manch-a youth movement rooted in the Gandhian and Nehruvian ideals of integrity, democracy, and service-he leads a nationwide initiative to instill purpose, empathy, and leadership in children from all walks of life.
Rooted deeply in the belief that "children are the pillars who shape the destiny of a nation," Dr. Hari envisions a future where education is not just about academics, but about values and action-where young people are encouraged not only to dream, but also to lead with conviction.
Hailing from Nemom in Trivandrum, Kerala, Dr. Hari's foray into leadership had humble beginnings: He started as a class representative at Government Model Higher Secondary School. That first election set him on a lifelong journey of leadership, advocacy, and service. His academic brilliance matched his activism; a rank holder throughout his Master's, B.Ed., and pre-degree programmes, he went on to earn a Ph.D. in Youth Empowerment from the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur.
From student politics through the Kerala Students Union (KSU) to national leadership, Dr. Hari's trajectory has been one of tireless commitment. In 1996, he became the Arts Club Secretary of Mar Ivanios College and later held the chairmanship of both Loyola College of Social Sciences and Mar Theophilus Training College. By 2006, his ability to connect with and inspire youth led him to become the State General Secretary of Samskara Sahithi. Just a year later, he was appointed State Chairman of Jawahar Balavedi, a role that expanded nationally when the body evolved into Jawahar Bal Manch.
His contributions have helped Jawahar Bal Manch grow into a powerful platform with 1,722 active units across 20 states, transforming thousands of young lives through education, mentorship, and service. From the "Mohabbat Ki Dukaan" free food programme to nationwide anti-drug campaigns, the organisation has not only educated but also mobilised youth for social change. "Developing today's youth for tomorrow is not just an investment in the future-it's a responsibility of the present," says Dr.G.V. Hari. "Children are the pillars who shape the destiny of a nation. If we nurture their integrity, ignite their curiosity, and guide their purpose, we secure a society built on compassion, courage, and conviction."
A respected spokesperson for the Congress Party in Kerala and former KPCC Secretary, Dr. Hari exemplifies a brand of politics grounded in ethics and service. Inspired by legends like Padma Shri K. Viswanathan and A.T. Ariyaratne, he promotes transparency, education, and professionalism, rejecting corruption and apathy in public life.
Even outside his official roles, Dr. Hari's influence is profound. At just 21, he began teaching Sociology at Mitraniketan People's College. His teaching style, infused with empathy and empowerment, continues to inspire students to look beyond academics and embrace societal responsibility. A spiritual soul with a love for poetry and literature, he often engages children with creative learning, helping them find their voice through expression.
With unwavering dedication and a far-reaching vision, Dr. G.V. Hari represents a powerful force in shaping India's future-one young leader at a time. His life is a testament to what can be achieved when education, empathy, and ethical leadership converge with a purpose larger than oneself.
